BOOZHOO (HELLO)
As an Indigenous person, I have become more aware of the loss and lack of connection to my culture over the years due to colonization and generational trauma. After the passing of my brother Travis in 2015, I met with an Ojibwe elder and recieved my spirit name, Mashkiki Mukwaa (Medicine Bear), through a traditional naming ceremony. Medicine Bear Builders is an Indigenous-owned small business created in 2021. It is important to me that my culture is visible and centered throughout my work. What better way than to lead with my traditional spirit name.
